This week's question.....

What is/was your favorite subject in school?

Well, perfect question since I just came back from school after failing yet another AP Chemistry test(you can cross out THAT subject from my favorite list). Well my favorite subject has always been English.Shakespeare, Hawthorne, Dickens, Fitzgerald! No matter how psycho my teacher was (9th grade and this year, no offense to all teachers out there) I always love reading and writing assignments. When we got to get some reading done, everyone moans and groans while I inwardly cheer to myself. Right now we are reading some Edgar Allan Poe and I cannot wait to re-read The Raven! Did I also mention we have 20 minutes of "silent reading time" every class?

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Waiting On Wednesday!

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Aw how cute is that little girl! I can tell you what she is thinking: the book she is really, really looking forward to this week! It is so hard to decide but finally I narrowed down my choices to two books. I have never seen another blogger do this, so I am a meme rebel!

And both of them turn out to be YA Romance novels!

Summary:

Another town. Another school. Another Mclean. Ever since her parents' bitter divorce, Mclean and her father have been fleeing their unhappy past. And Mclean's become a pro at reinventing herself with each move. But in Lakeview, Mclean finds herself putting down roots and making friends—in part, thanks to Dave, the most real person Mclean's ever met. Dave just may be falling in love with her, but can he see the person she really is? Does Mclean herself know?

Number Two!

So Much Closer by Susane Colasanti

Summary:

Scott Abrams is the love of Brooke's life. He just doesn't know it yet. So when his family moves to New York City the summer before senior year, Brooke has no choice but to follow Scott. It's her last chance to prove to him that they're meant to be together.

What will Brooke do when her biggest dream finally comes true, but instead she wants something more?

Hope you liked my picks! Till next Wednesday!

Question of the Week:
Who Do You Cheer For?

As you can see, I am a bookworm. A non-sport-playing bookworm. So I don't know much about sports. Baseball? Don't really care much for (sorry baseball fans). Golf? Not for me. Volleyball? Maybe. Basketball? Eh. But Football? That is one of the few sports I get excited about. Especially when the Cowboys play, no matter what happens I am with them all the way! Texas girl remember? But since they are not going to play in the Superbowl..... I gotta cheer for the Jets! My brother is a fan, and so we started watching the games together (brother and sister bonding *insert aww here*), and they are pretty good. So I think they have a good chance to win as much as any other team.

Hope I didn't make a fool of myself talking about sports......as you can see, I don't know much about them. =D

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
New followers/bloggers, let me know what you think of the blog in the comments please! Need to tweak and fix somethings, but for the time being I am making a list. A loong list. Procrastinating? No I wish. I am a little bit sick with coughing and all the other sick stuff so I will get to those things in the list....eventually.

Review: Gilr, Stolen By April Henry

Girl, Stolen By April Henry
Publish Date: October 2010
Publishers: Henry Holt and Company
Source: Author/Publisher (ARC)
Age recommendation: There is really nothing to look for, except some curse words.
Summary from Goodreads:

Sixteen year-old Cheyenne Wilder is sleeping in the back of a car while her mom fills her prescription at the pharmacy. Before Cheyenne realizes what's happening, their car is being stolen—with her inside! Griffin hadn’t meant to kidnap Cheyenne, all he needed to do was steal a car for the others. But once Griffin's dad finds out that Cheyenne’s father is the president of a powerful corporation, everything changes—now there’s a reason to keep her. What Griffin doesn’t know is that Cheyenne is not only sick with pneumonia, she is blind. How will Cheyenne survive this nightmare, and if she does, at what price?

Review:
"Please let me go, I won't tell!"
When I read the summary for Girl, Stolen I though, "How in the world is this author going to portray the point of view of a blind girl?," because before I though that sight was essential to portray a story. Boy, did she prove me wrong. And I have the answer for the question , brilliantly.
Cheyenne, the main character, is so independent and uses her other senses that it made it very easy to relate to her and admire her at the same time.Half of the time I didn't even remember that Cheyenne is blind, and the other half, when I did, I didn't find it difficult to understand and I didn't find so bad that I couldn't see her surroundings

Because, see, that is where I think Griffin comes in. He is ,of course, able to see everything and since he is Cheyennes unintentional kidnapper he is with her at all times. And every other chapter it is in his point of view so it is even more refreshingly different to have the story told from both point of views. Griffin, he is the sweetest and most adorable guy! Don't judge me, I like sweet guys with a dangerous streak, you know you do too.
I loved Griffin from beginning of the book to the end. When he kidnapped Cheyenne not only did that change her life, but his too.

Which is why I am sorry to say that there was sort of one-sided romance with this story. Which is kind of sorta understandable under the circumstances, but still! Not much romance in a one-sided interest. And I think you guys can guess who the love interest is...But other than that the actio
n was great and the suspense was well....suspenseful! =D But being the romance-lover that I am, I am sort of disappointed with that part of the plot but that wasn't the main idea for this novel so all in all, I enjoyed reading it.

Cheyenne was a strong and very admirable main character. I found myself cheering her on the whole book. Her perseverance, which I wouldn't have in that situation, is very impressive. And her intelligence and kick-ass demeanor is what I liked the most about her. But girlfriend should have cut Griffin some slack! He was just doing what he was told to do! Just kidding, sorta.

If you like suspense, this is a short and refreshingly different read.

Rating:
Excerpt:
"Then the cough pushed its way up out of her chest, tore though her throat, and shattered the silence. And then the footsteps charged toward her." Pg. 171

Cover love: Simple and the cover itself tells a story.
What is next?: There is still nothing about a sequel to this book*fingers crossed*. Probably never will be, it doesn't seem like it. But if you liked April's books you can read her other YA thriller Shock Point.

About the Author:

She says: "I grew up in a small Oregon town, and I still remember my mom teaching me with alphabet flash cards. White with a picture of an object on one side and a letter on the other, those cards glowed with magic."

Boys In Books Are Just Better

Boys In Books Are Just Better(BBJB) is going to be a weekly meme where I talk about boys in books that I wish were real, but aren't. Every week I will talk about one drool-worthy boy but at the same time try my best not to spoil anything important for those of you who haven't read the book.
I will try to post a picture or drawing that resembles that fictional--wish he wasn't--boy. This weekly post is my way of having fun but at the same time I will be wondering to myself: WHY AREN'T THEY REAL?!
Every time I read a book where the guy is everything a girl could dream of, I envy all of those fictional girls(Katniss) who have this fictional boy's heart(Peeta). You guys can guess who I am gonna talk about next week.....*wink*

I will not have a criteria for this but I do have to point out that the character HAS to be YA and can be the minor or major character, whichever. Whether he is an Angel, Wolf, Vampire, Dragon, Fairy or human we love them all! So if you have any suggestions or would like to talk about your BBJB let me know in the comments or e-mail me. I have plenty of BBJB to last a whole year but this isn't just my meme is all of you guys!

I am thinking about having guests posts with some fellow bloggers who share the love for fictional boys as I do. So I will keep you guys posted. But for moment I just wanted to give you guys a heads up for next Saturday And If you suggest a boy, also list the book he was in in case I haven't read that book so then I can read it.
Have A Great Saturday!! I am off to read Across The Universe! =D New BBJB perhaps?

Question of the Week:
What makes up your non-human family??

My non-human family? Well, that would have to be my laptop. It is not human or family.
It's name is Toby, and it and I have had great times together. Been blogging for a while now, and I don't know what I would do without it. I have no pets because the little brother is allergic to cats and my mom doesn't like dogs. And when I when I am in school, who would take care of it? So my closes non-human family would be my laptop.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

**Whoever entered my MATCHED giveaway, I will choose the winner today(Friday)! =D Good luck everyone!

A little about the book:

This paranormal murder mystery will have teens reading on the edge of their seats.

Clarity "Clare" Fern sees things. Things no one else can see. Things like stolen kisses and long-buried secrets. All she has to do is touch a certain object, and the visions come to her. It's a gift.

And a curse.

The Elevensies

Well thanks to Facebook(gotta love it!) I found this website dedicated to the YA and MG debut books of 2011 and written by their authors. And most of these books begin released I want! So here is a little video that they created.

They also make these daily posts and very interesting "A Day In The Writing Life Of.." where you can get a sneak peek at the writing life of your favorite 2011 debut authors(I read them all). It is extremely cool, If I do say so myself. And then there is daily updates on the books, such as starred reviews, cover releases, dates, by the authors themselves!
Why didn't I find this earlier?! I seriously need to be slapped, I cannot believe this website has been up for a while, and I have never heard about it. Okay enough rambling for now, you can visit The Elevensies website HERE, if you were one of the people who didn't know about it, which sadly I was.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEARS HUMANS and other living beings! Today marks the first day of a new decade! I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous year full of life and plenty of good books to read! I am so excited to see what's 2011 gonna bring. God Bless!
